Fun and Sophisticated Wedding

Mary Ana and Kevin met and fell in love as colleagues completing their medical specialty training in Dermatology at Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock, Texas. As the days, weeks, and months of studying and hard work progressed, the two medical students developed a strong relationship and realized that they were meant to be together for the rest of their lives. Kevin proposed on bended knee one starry night at the Mandola Winery and Estate, and of course Mary Ana said, “yes!”
Mary Ana and Kevin had envisioned a glamorous black, white and red celebration, with “fun and sophistication” as the wedding theme. Invitations for the ‘big day” arrived in black boxes to the guests’ homes. The young couple also custom designed and exchanged jewelry as wedding gifts to each other, beautiful diamond chandelier earrings for the bride and cufflinks that matched the wide platinum band for the groom.
One hundred forty-five friends and family members gathered at the chapel at Villa Antonia to watch the exchange of vows and rings. The chapel had been trimmed with a red velvet entrance and drapery, along with a nine-foot iron cross and incredible candelabras with roses in dramatic shades of red. Mary Ana carried an ivory rose bouquet with white ostrich feathers accented with crystals to meet her handsome groom.
As the newly married couple walked into the reception area and was introduced as Mr. and Mrs. Kevin Miller, it was truly a magical moment. The tables at the cocktail hour were decorated with iron trees hung with votives and surrounded by bouquets of red roses. The reception area was adorned in red and black sophistication. The Heartstrings played the Chapman Sticks throughout the delectable four-course dinner. The non-traditional wedding cake, created by Simon Lee Bakery, featured a black and white harlequin pattern with three thick tiers separated by layers of roses. The groom’s cake featured a “Welcome to Las Vegas” theme. “The cakes were amazing,” said Mary Ana. After dinner, the bride’s aunt and uncle led the Grand March, along with the Nash Hernandez Orchestra, to escort the bride and groom into their “first dance.” Out on the terrace, the bride and groom had provided a lounge area with black and white leather furniture, a martini bar, a cigar roller and an espresso and chocolate bar for all to enjoy. An ornate “King’s throne” had been set up for Kevin’s honor. The magical night passed swiftly and as valets returned the cars, the departing guests were given chocolate chip cookies and cold organic milk to enjoy on the trip home. The happy couple left the following day for a two-week honeymoon in the French and Italian Riviera, with the wonderful memories of their fun and sophisticated wedding.
